Every year seems to mean a new band that is near and dear to my heart regroups and comes back to indulge my inner teen. 9 days into 2012, we have our first exiciting reunion announcement: At The Drive In. For those who did not attending high school in 2001, At The Drive In were one of the most talented groups worshipped by the early millenial emo crowd (this is pre-Hot Topic-ation of that word, which means annoying teens dressed as Rivers Cuomo, not sad Ziggy Stardust). They pushed the genre to new levels with their angular hardcore rhythms and their politics, something that scene was specifically lacking in. In a weird way, they were kind of like a way way way way better Rage Against The Machine (the proof in that statement being former members went on to start The Mars Volta instead of Audioslave).
Anyways, back on topic, the band announced a reunion today through Twitter, USING A QUOTE FROM MY FAVOURITE ALBUM OF THEIRS OMG. Sorry. Well, here’s that album. If these guys come to Van on tour, I can’t even predict how I’m gonna react. I might express, god forbid, enthusiasm…
