On Saturday night, one of the best bands I have been introduced to in quite a while will be playing on stage at the Biltmore Cabaret. PVT (formerly Pivot) are a 3 piece experimental electro-rock band who will blow your ever loving mind when you hear them live.
I had the pleasure of sitting down for an interview with Richard Pike, Laurence Pike and Dave Miller from PVT when they last came through town November of last year and I found it refreshing to talk to artists who were so humble and humorous off stage and so dedicated to their sound on stage. Proving once and for all that you can be loose as a person and tight as an artist, a fact too many indie artists deny in hopes it will give them more mystique and cred.
And tight they were. On stage, PVT creates a sound that is unlike most of the progressive sounding rock I have heard. It fills the room with such an ambitious meatiness, and that ambition pays off. Watching them create the sound they make is just as enjoyable, all three men seem to get lost in their own music which is a great thing for an audience member to witness.
I don’t usually do this, but every now and then there is a band that I am so relieved to have had the chance to see and I feel it incumbent upon me to ensure that you feel that relief too. It would be well worth your Saturday night to come see PVT at the Biltmore. If you need further coaxing, check out our review from their November show. Hope to see you there. You won’t regret it.
