There is a big reason why we at SCENE IN THE DARK choose to focus on live music: It’s all about the energy, baby! Not much can beat the euphoria or adrenaline induced by the live performance of a passionate artist, especially when they make a big point of being the life of the party.
We first found the party rocking alternative hip-hop twosome of Champagne Champagne as they were climbing the speaker towers at Bumbershoot Music Festival. Talk about getting amped up! Fun loving emcees Pearl Dragon and Sir Thomas Gray man the front lines with personalities as big as their afros, while producer DJ Gajamatic provides a backdrop of original beats along a wide spectrum of sound.
Champagne Champagne is regularly in action and has a loyal fan base of party go’ers backing them. In 2011 they were on the road in the US with fellow Seattle hip hoppers Mad Rad, and unexpectedly added a little glitter to their resume with a Ke$ha opening gig. Recently, they garnered the enviable position as opener for the Wu Tang Clan’s visit to their hometown Seattle; no doubt quite the score for any hip hop artist! In 2012 they will be busy touring with Vans Warped Tour with both Canadian and American dates. We look forward to their album release later this year, featuring collaborations with STRFKR.
